There was disappointment for Owen Greene, selected for last years Scottish team, who suffered in the strength-sapping conditions to place 14th. Far happier was Fife AC recent recruit Andrew Liston in 9th while Dusty Spates placed 21st.
Graham Bee a Scottish representative at last years World Championships failed to finish the junior mens race, a casualty of the conditions, while Edmund Halliwell ran well to place third over the 5.5 mile (2200ft) course in 49 minutes 15 seconds.
