SCOTTISH VETERAN CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORRES
Three members made the long journey to Forres to contest the Scottish
Veteran Cross-Country Championships bringing back two medals. Jocelyn
Scott, having just reached the big five 50 contested her first race in
that category taking the bronze medal in 32 minutes 08 seconds over the
8km course. Phyllis Lemoncello, the former over 50 champion annexed her
first over 55 title with a winning 32 minutes 32 seconds.
Tom Scott placed sixth over 50 in the mens 10km race timed at 41 minutes
25 seconds.
SCOTTISH SCHOOLS CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, IRVINE
Two club juniors achieved top twenty placings at the Scottish Schools
Cross-Country Championships held at Beach Park, Irvine. Balmullo athlete
Jennifer Kibble placed 18th in the girls 14-15 race representing Bell
Baxter timed at 12 minutes 19 seconds over the 3000m course. Andrew
Evans, St Andrews finished 20th in the under 14 boys 3000m race clocking
11 minutes 36 seconds where his Madras team placed 19th.
BALLOCH TO CLYDEBANK HALF MARATHON
The previous week Rob Wilkinson and Johanna Paananen completed the
Balloch to Clydebank half marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes 47 seconds - a
personal best for Johanna. This race formed part of their preparations
for the London Marathon making a welcome change to their usual Sunday 23
mile circuit of the Howe of Fife Cycle Route.
LASSWADE 10 MILE ROAD RACE
Terry Mitchell finished first veteran at the Lasswade 10 mile road race.
Terry finished 7th overall in a time of 58.42. Race winner Al Hart
(Hunters Bog Trotters) clocked 54 minutes 27 seconds.

INVERNESS HALF MARATHON
Addy Gerrard put in Fife AC’s top performance finishing second woman
in a field of 1,200 runners at the Inverness Half Marathon. Addy fought a close contest all the way with Jane Barker
(Moray Road Runners) as only nineteen seconds separated the pair at the
finish. Barker clocked a winning 80 minutes 21 seconds with Addy in
second (80.40) also taking the prize for the first female veteran.
RESULTS: 1 S. Pride (Metro Aberdeen) 70.11; 2 G. Beal (City of
Edinburgh) 72.26; 3 K. Riddle (Inverness H.) 72.33.
WOMEN: 1 J. Barker (Moray Road Runners) 80.21; 2 Addy Gerrard (Fife AC),
1st veteran, 80.40; 3. J. McMaster (Glasgow University) 81.46.
GARTMORN 6 MILE RACE
Chris Russell, Glenrothes, placed seventh at the Gartmorn Dam 6 mile
race timed at 34 minutes 40 seconds. Lothian over 40 veteran Colin Meek
ran out the winner in 32 minutes 48 seconds.
DUNDEE SCHOOLS CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Also in action was Cupar under 20 athlete Jamie Lamb who, representing
Dundee High School placed second to winner Stephen Dyer (Grove Academy)
at the Dundee Schools Cross-Country Championships held at Caird Park.

ALLOA HALF MARATHON
Chris Russell was Fife AC’s first runner amongst a field of 1200 at
the Alloa half marathon. With the recent upturn in numbers and fine
conditions Chris battled amongst a group of five athletes to reach the
finish in a splendid ninth place clocking a new personal best time of 74
minutes 43 seconds -25 seconds inside his previous best.

PRAGUE HALF MARATHON
Kirkcaldy members of Fife AC travelled a little bit farther in search of
competition contesting the Prague half marathon amongst a field of 4000
runners.
Bryce Aitken excelled to make the top 100 timed at 83 minutes followed
by Irene Pennycook (1 hour 43 minutes), Alan Meiklejohn (1.44) and Bob
Mustard (2.10).
CHAPELGILL HILL RACE
Ladybank veteran Adrian Davis was the club’s first finisher at the
Chapelgill Hill Race near Broughton - a punishing 1.5 mile race with
l400ft of ascent. Adrian placed 11th, third veteran timed at 20 minutes
31 seconds with Alex McGuire 30th (23.38) and Jim Haig 88th (31.24).
Louise Burt, St Andrews, clocked 27 minutes 19 seconds to place fifth
woman while Jocelyn Scott finished eighth, first over 50 (28.47).
10KM PAARLAUF, ST ANDREWS
The two-man 10km Paarlauf at St Andrews University track was won by
Chris Russell and Brian Cruickshank who went all out over the final mile
to dip under the 30 minute barrier with a finishing time of 29 minutes
40 seconds. Kennoway veteran Andrew Cassidy teamed up with Craig Watson
to place second while Jim Taylor and Brian Wallace finished third.
Andrew Evans, St Andrews, headed the eight runners in the junior one
mile clocking a fine five minutes 39 seconds.

SCOTTISH ROAD RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS, LIVINGSTON
Fife AC placed a commendable seventh out of the sixty-two teams that
lined up for the Scottish Road Relay Championships at Livingston.
Kirkcaldy junior hill internationalist Graham Bee started off the club
challenge over the short stage course of 3.15 miles with the 6-stage
event alternating between short and long course stages (5.8 miles). Bee
handed over to Owen Greene in 9th place only twenty seconds down on
leaders Racing Club Edinburgh. Greene proceeded to improve two places to
seventh over the long stage before Dusty Spates came home in eighth at
the half-way point.
Scottish internationalist Andrew Lemoncello clocked one of the days
fastest long stage times to bring Fife up to sixth over stage four while
Markinch veteran John Thomson justified his late call-up to the first
team placing seventh a position held by Glenrothes athlete Chris Russell
over the final leg.
Racing Club Edinburgh (formerly Mizuno RC) held off a late challenge
from Cambuslang to win the title by just 11 seconds with Shettleston in
third.
The Fife B team ran well to place 36th represented by Ronnie Mill, Terry
Mitchell, Bryce Aitken, John Murdoch, Doug Gunstone and David Bee.

TRACK & FIELD MEETING, GRANGEMOUTH
Junior internationalist Chris Baily, GIenrothes, opened his outdoor
campaign with some staggering early season marks at Grangemouth Stadium.
A personal best time of 11.2 seconds over 100m complimented a
personal best in the Shot Put of 13.13 metres. These performances were
followed by long jump (6.45m), high jump (1.55m and javelin (37.15m) the
latter mark off only a three stride run-up.

ENERGY ZONE RACE SERIES, DUNFERMLINE
Fife AC members were prominent at the first Friday night race of the new
season at Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline.
Over the hilly one mile course Chris Russell, Glenrothes, placed third
clocking 5.00 minutes outsprinting first veteran John Thomson, Coaltown
of Balgonie, in fourth by a mere second. Kirkcaldy members John Murdoch
8th, second veteran and Ronnie Mill 10th, third veteran ran well to gain
top ten placings.

A field of two hundred runners contested the Tartan Day 10km road
race at Fettercairn where Kirkcaldy over 40 veteran Bryce Aitken placed
14th in 36 minutes 03 seconds. Sandra Aitken finished 148th with Bob
Mustard 178th. Alan Reid of Peterhead placed 5th winning the prize for
the first athlete wearing a kilt

SPEYSIDE WAY 50K TRAIL RACE
Glenrothes members Jim Taylor and Bob Allison both run well at the
Speyside Way 50 kilometre trail race. Jim placed 37th in a time of
4:41:20 while Bob placed 55th timed at 4:55:54.
Race winner was international ultra runner Simon Pride (Metro Aberdeen)
in a time of 3:11:55
NORMANS LAW HILL RACE
Eighty runners completed the Fife AC 5 mile Normans Law Hill Race at
Luthrie where Chris Russell triumphed over a class field.
Four athletes remained in contention as they reached the 700ft summit
but it was Russell that teased out a sixteen second advantage along the
journey back to the finish at Lower Luthrie Farm chased by Kirkcaldy’s
Graham Bee. Russell clocked 30 minutes 29 seconds with Bee the runner-up
(30.45) and Al Hart (Hunters Bog Trotters) in 3rd - 31.25. Fife AC were
further represented in the top ten with Brian Cruickshank 5th (33.41),
Jamie Lamb 9th (35.08) and Laurie Anderson 10th (35.15).
Fiona Lothian made it a double success for Fife placing first woman in
16th place overall (35.48) ahead of Megan Clark (Hunters Bog Trotters)
31st and Fabienne Thompson (Carnegie) 33rd.
Cupar under 11 runner Maya Stone was in sparkling form in the Emily Hill
junior race at Luthrie placing 3rd overall in the mixed field, the first
girl finisher. Maya clocked 9
minutes 07 seconds over the one mile, 260ft ascent course chased by
Fiona Bracegirdle, Gauldry who also ran well to place 6th overall,
second girl (9.28).
Christine Sanderson, St.Andrews was another club finisher over the tough
terrain placing 15th (12.05).

CLACHNABEN HILL RACE
Up at Deeside over 50 Kirkcaldy veteran Alex McGuire placed 13th
overall, first over 50 at the Clachnaben Hill Race covering the 10.5
mile 3,500ft course in 97 minutes 06 seconds.
CENTRAL & SOUTH OF SCOTLAND TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE, COATBRIDGE
The club commenced their campaign in the Central & South of Scotland
Track & Field League at Coatbridge placing fourth in their Division
3 match. Under 17 internationalist Chris Baily starred for the team
winning the 100m(11.6), long jump (6.45m) and shot putt (12.69m).
Crail’s Matthew Sim gained valuable points in the field with 2nd in
the shot putt (9.42m) before showing a turn of fine speed in the 400m to
place 2nd (56.3). Under 17 Burntisland runner John Buchan won the 1500m
steeplechase in a fine 5 minutes 08.4 seconds while Mike Wise placed
second in the senior 100m (12.2) and Jude Beimers 1st B 100m (12.0)
before winning the triple jump with 12.94m.
Neil Gray and Andrew Evans who both completed the Normans Law race 24
hours earlier contested the under 13 events where Neil finished 3rd long
jump (3.93m) while Andrew placed 1st long jump B (3.59m) and 6th in the
800m (2:51.4). Ewan Gray won the under 11 long jump with a commendable
3.27m.
Cupar’s Nony Mordi excelled in the under 17 girls 100m with a winning
13.6 seconds plus 2nd in the javelin (17.67m) and 4th in the long jump
(4.30m). Newburgh athlete Jenna Marshall made a fine club debut with a
personal best in the high jump of 1.40m. Further good points came from
Nene Udofot 1st Shot Putt (7.57m) and Michelle Thaddeus 1st Shot Putt B
(7.28m).
Freya Marks, St.Andrews, was the top under 15 performer winning the long
jump (4.39m) as well as 2nd High Jump (1.40m) and 2nd 100m (14.1).
Amanda Woodrow, Glenrothes, posted a new personal best in the 800m A
race placing 3rd in 2 minutes 25.37 seconds. Jennifer Kibble, Balmullo,
followed up her good run at Normans Law the previous day with 3rd 800m B
(3:01.8) and 3rd long jump B (3.34m).
Jenny Tan, St.Andrews, placed 2nd in the under 13 girls 100m (14.3)
while sister Katy contested the under 11’s long jump finishing 2nd
(2.87m) and 3rd 80m sprint (16.9).

FIVE PEAKS OF FIFE RACE
Chris Russell contested his third race in five days partnering Adrian
Davis to victory in the two-man Five Peaks of Fife Race. Their run over
the West Lomond, East Lomond, Bishophill, Largo Law and Normans Law, 16
miles (3,700ft) was covered in 2 hours 03 minutes 48 seconds. Brian
Cruickshank and Ian Overton followed in second (2:14.34) with Tom Ross
and Jamie Lamb third (2:24.44).

SCOTTISH WOMENS TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE, GLASGOW
The track and field season started in earnest with under 15 athlete
Amanda Woodrow one of a number of Fife AC girls representing Tayside at
the Scottish Womens Track & Field League at Scotstoun, Glasgow.
Amanda set the tone for the Tayside squad in the under fifteen 800m with
a winning 2 minutes 22.73 seconds - a new personal best. At the end of
the day Tayside placed 5th out of the eight teams with Team West the
winners.

ANDREWS 5K
The Fife AC Mid-Week Summer Series of races opened at St.Andrews
University with the St.Andrews 5km race held around the university
playing fields. Welsh steeplechase internationalist Donald Naylor
(Hunters Bog Trotters) blasted his way around the flat course to
register a clear victory in a fast 16 minutes 11 seconds with Owen
Greene in second (17.33) and Chris Russell (18.07) second and third
respectively. With Steve Doig 4th, Bryan McManus 8th and Dusty Spates
9th Fife dominated the top ten.
GB World Indoor Championship representative Hayley Parkinson Ovens
(Edinburgh Woollen Mill) was in superb form placing 11th overall to take
the womens award with Louise Provan, Gauldry the female runner-up.
St.Andrews under 13 athlete Andrew Evans won the one mile race in 5
minutes 22 seconds ahead of Nina Richardson?s 5 minutes 50 seconds.

A small group of Kirkcaldy members contested the Gala 10km road race
where Bryce Aitken placed 14th in 33 minutes 51 seconds. David Shepherd
46.01, Sandra Aitken 49.53, and Robert Mustard 52.50 were the other
finishers.
GUERNSEY EASTER RUNNING FESTIVAL
Tom and Jocelyn Scott, by Dairsie, had a successful family outing to the
Guernsey Easter Running Festival comprising four runs in four days. Tom
took the first over 50 award while Jocelyn was second in the over 50
category. Out of fields of approximately 200 runners Tom saved his best
effort for the fourth and last race contesting his first ever half
marathon to place 7th overall in 80 minutes 15 seconds. In the 4 x 2
mile relay under 13 junior Frankie Scott and a Guernsey cousin made up
the Fife AC quartet placing 14th team out of 44.
RESULTS: Tom Scott - 10km 15th (36.23), 4.75 miles cross-country
13th (28.27), 2 miles relay (11.21), Half Marathon 7th (80.15). Jocelyn
Scott - 10km 82nd (44.23). 4.75 miles cross-country 61st (34.32). 2

SCOTTISH YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE, GRANGEMOUTH
Fife AC junior athletes commenced their Scottish Young Athletes League
campaign at Grangemouth.
The boys performed well to place third of the nine teams led by under 17
Glenrothes athlete Jude Beimers who scored a hat-trick of wins. Victory
in the 100m (11.8 seconds) was followed by first place in the 200m
(25.0) as well as an emphatic win in the long jump with a fine 6.36
metres. Gary Brown provided able support winning the 100m B race (12.6)
and the long jump B competition (5.21). Valuable points in the under 17
throws came from Rhorry Gauld with second place in the javelin - an
impressive 36 metres.
A weakened girls squad finished seventh of the eight teams with under 15
athlete Amanda Woodrow, Glenrothes, the star of the Fife team winning
the 800m in a fast 2 minutes 22.4 seconds. This clocking further
improved Amanda’s personal best having set a time of 2 minutes 22.73
seconds representing the Tayside team the previous weekend.

EDINBURGH TO NORTH BERWICK ROAD RACE
Jim Taylor, Glenrothes, and Stewart Biggar, Kirkcaldy, contested the
Edinburgh to North Berwick 22 mile road race placing 71st and 76th
respectively. Jim clocked 2 hours 52 minutes 32 seconds with Stewart
close behind in 2 hours 53 minutes 47 seconds.
BRITISH UNIVERSITIES TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, BEDFORD
At the British Universities Track & Field Championships at Bedford,
Ellen Leggate won the womens 1500m final representing Cambridge
University. Andrew Lemoncello (Stirling Univ.) was forced to withdraw
from the 3,000m steeplechase final due to injury.

EAST OF SCOTLAND TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, EDINBURGH
Fife AC junior athlete Chris Baily returned from the East of Scotland
Track & Field Championships at Meadowbank Stadium with a grand haul
of three gold medals and one silver medal, plus three personal best
performances.
Chris won the under 17 100m in a personal best time of 11.1 seconds
before claiming the sprint double with victory in the 200m timed at
22.53 seconds, another personal best. In the field Chris won the long
jump with a mark of 6.46 metres with Jude Beimers taking the silver
medal (6.04m). Chris’ third personal best came in the javelin
competition where he took the silver medal with a throw of 42.78 metres.
Jude’s silver lining turned to gold in the triple jump with a winning
13 .35m giving him the under 17 title.
Amanda Woodrow continued her fine recent form winning the under 15 girls
800m title in 2 minutes 24.6 seconds.
Kirkcaldy under 20 athlete Mike Wyse placed 5th in the 100m (11.95) and
5th in the 200m (23.69).
FIFE
AC 50K ROAD RACE
The club hosted the 8th Fife 50km (31.25 mile) race incorporating the
Scottish Championship. Race convenor Jim Taylor, Glenrothes, opted to
run in the event this year but over the 14 lap course could still not
resist the urge to check on proceedings even stopping to present the
winner Dennis Walmsley (Bourton RR) with his goodie bag as he crossed
the finishing line! Jim completed the distance in 23rd place (4 hours 43
minutes 24 seconds) while in 25th/2nd over 40, Bob Allison, Glenrothes,
completed his first ever ultra distance event in 4 hours 52 minutes 30
seconds.
Once again the race was a masterpiece of organisation due to the
meticulous planning of Jim Taylor with thanks to the small army of
helpers on the day.

Triathlete Steve Clark (East Fife Tri.) ran out the winner at the
Strathkinness/Blebocraigs 4.5 mile race - the second counter in the Fife
Mid-Week Summer Series. Clark covered the testing multi-terrain course
in a rain-soaked 25 minutes 11 seconds chased by Glenrothes duo Chris
Russell in second (25.25) and Brian Cruickshank, third (26.40).
Kirkcaldy veteran John Murdoch placed 5th, second veteran (27.11) while
Andrew Cassidy, Kennoway, excelled to finish 7th (27.56) - third veteran
in the field of seventy finishers.

Steve Doig, Kinghorn, placed 5th out of a field of 190 runners at the
Silverknowes 5 mile road race at Edinburgh clocking 27 minutes 27
seconds. Race winner J.Cowan (RH Cambuslang) was timed at 26 minutes 01
second.
BEN LOMOND HILL RACE
Kirkcaldy veteran Alex McGuire took the over 50's prize at the Ben
Lomond Hill Race covering the 9 mile (3,192ft) course in 82 minutes 15
seconds placing 18th overall. Louise Burt, St.Andrews, followed close
behind timed at 83 minutes 06 seconds placing third lady. Roy McLachlan
finished in 72nd place clocking 103 minutes 42 seconds.

YOUNG ATHLETES SOUTHERN PREMIER MATCH
Fife AC junior athlete Chris Baily made the long journey to represent
North London club Shaftesbury Barnet at the UK Young Athletes Southern
Premier Match. Chris won the under 17 long jump with 6.56 metres as well
as winning the 200m in 23.4 seconds. A second place in the high jump was
achieved with a new personal best height of 1.65m.
CENTRAL AND SOUTH TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE, GRANGEMOUTH
At Grangemouth, Fife AC finished fourth in their Central and South of
Scotland Division 3 Track and Field League match.
Under 11 athlete Kevin Harley made a winning debut in the 80m sprint
timed at 12.6 seconds. At the other end of the age range Jude Beimers
won the under 17 200m in 24.3 seconds while Rory Gauld took second place
in the javelin (30.28m) and shot putt (11.23m). Burntisland runner John
Buchan moved up into the senior ranks to contest the 3,000m steeplechase
with a terrific winning run timed at 11 minutes 22.5 seconds. Mike Wyse,
Kirkcaldy added valuable second place points in the senior long jump
(5.96m) and the 200m B race with Steve Payton 2nd in the 200m A race.
Jonathan Marks, St.Andrews was the top points earner in the under 15
section with a winning high jump of 1.51 m followed by 2nd place in the
80m hurdles (13.20) and 2nd place in the Shot Putt B (7m). Connor Hill
placed 2nd in the long jump (4.08m) and 3rd in the 80m hurdles B (13.7).
Keith Simpson was another prolific under 15 points scorer with 2nd in
the long jump (4.95m), 2nd discus (22.73m) and 3rd in the 200m (26.2).
Phillip Salter rounded off Fife’s fine under 15 scoring with a
personal best in the 1500m placing 3rd (5:13.2) as well as 2nd shot putt
(8.05m) and 1st discus B (17.38m).
Long distance athlete Neil Gray, St.Andrews, turned his talents to the
75m hurdles in the under 13 age group placing 2nd in a fine 16.2
seconds.
St.Andrew’s Michelle Thadeus earned valuable points in the under 17
girls field events with 2nd in the discus (22.34m) and 2nd in the shot
putt (7.19m).
Amanda Woodrow upped her distance from 800m to contest her first under
15 1500m finishing second in 5 minutes 03.1 seconds. Ruth Dunn,
St.Andrew’s, contested the 1500m B race with a winning 6 minutes 06.6
seconds followed by 4th place in the shot putt (6.57m). Freya Marks
placed 2nd in the 75m hurdles in a fast 13.7 seconds.
Ailie Scobie, Kirkcaldy, placed 2nd in the under 13 800m clocking 2
minutes 44.9 seconds. while 2nd place was claimed by Hannah Grant in the
200m B race (31.7). Gauldry distance runner Fiona Bracegirdle provided
more second place points in the 800m B race (2:56.5). Jenny Tan was
another runner with a fast clocking in the 800m timed at 2 minutes 50.6
seconds.
Catriona Scott, St.Andrews, showed promise as an under 11 athlete
placing 3rd in the 80m sprint timed at 13.0 seconds.

CATERAN TRAIL HILL RELAY, BLAIRGOWRIE
A team of Fife AC veterans took the veterans award at the 23 mile
Cateran Trail Hill Relay from
Blairgowrie to Spittal of Glenshee. Running in pairs over the three
stages the team of Dave Francis/Frank Cation, Tom Scott/Tom Ross and
Doug Robertson/Roy McLachlan covered the distance in 3 hours 37 minutes
and 29 seconds.
FIFE AC 5K ROAD RACE SERIES, KIRKCALDY
Glenrothes athlete Chris Russell won the inaugural 5km road race over
the Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy road circuit.
Russell clocked 16 minutes 26 seconds having five seconds to spare over
club colleague Steve Doig, Kinghorn, with Willie Jarvie (Portobello) in
third - 17.03. GB World Indoor Championship representative Hayley
Parkinson-Ovens (Edinburgh Woollen Mill) took the womens prize placing
6th overall in 17 minutes 31 seconds ahead of Pitreavie’s Jennifer
Ward (18.20) with Margaret McLaren in third (22.19).

SYA TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE, COATBRIDGE
Fife AC junior athletes were in action at Coatbridge contesting the
second round of the Scottish Young Athletes Track & Field League
Tayport athlete Andy Kinnear was in superb form in the under 17 age
group winning the high jump (1.69m) and placing first in the triple jump
B competition (11.77m). A 4th place in the 800m rounded off Andy’s
contribution timed at a personal best of 2 minutes 06.4 seconds. Jude
Beimers, Glenrothes, excelled to win the triple jump in a personal best
of 13.62 metres as well as placing 2nd in the 100m in a personal best of
11.7 seconds and 5th in the 200 (25.2) Further vaulable points in the
field events came as Gary Brown placed 5th in the discus with a personal
best throw of 21.26m. Burntisland runner John Buchan had a busy day in
the distance events with 2nd place in the 1500m steeplechase (5:01.3)
and 4th place in the flat 3,000m (10:07.8.).
Phillip Salter, St.Andrews, was another Fife athlete clocking a personal
best over 800m timed at 2 minutes 30.7 seconds placing 4th. A second p.b.
came in the shot putt finshing 6th (8.14m).
In the under 13 age group Neil Gray, St.Andrews, was a prolific points
scorer with his best result a personal best time of 15.9 seconds to take
3rd place in the 75m hurdles. A 4th place in the long jump A competition
followed (3.59m) while an 8th place in the 800m (2:47.5) rounded off
Neil’s day. Andrew Evans placed 3rd in the long jump B event (3.32m).
Danny Barlow, Kirkcaldy placed 6th in the shot putt A competition
(6.22m) backed up by Michael Morrison’s 4th place in the B event
(4.34m). Michael also ran in the 800m B race placing 5th (2 minutes 55
seconds).
Kirkcaldy sprinter Stephanie Jones posted a personal best time of 13.5
seconds to place 5th in the under 17 100m while Michelle Thadeus,
St.Andrews finished 2nd in the discus with a respectable 21.42m.
Amanda Woodrow, Glenrothes, improved her 800m personal best for the
third time this season with a winning 2 minutes 21.8 seconds in the
under 15 age group. Caris Bredin, St.Andrews, also clocked a good 800m
time of 2:52.8 to place 5th in the B race. Freya Marks, St.Andrews, was
the top under 15 girls scorer piling up the points with 1st long jump
(4.51m), 3rd discus (15.88m) and 4th 75m hurdles (13.7). Alison Colvin,
Newport, won the 75m hurdles B race (14.5) as well as placing 5th in the
200m A event (30.6).
Kirkcaldy under 13 athlete Ailie Scobie ran well in her 800m to place
3rd (2:41.3) as well as finishing 3rd in the 75m hurdles (10.9).
St.Andrews athlete Jenny Tan is coming on leaps and bounds as a distance
runner and duly won the 800m B race in a personal best of 2 minutes 45.1
seconds. Another talented distance runner Fiona Bracegirdle, Gauldry,
showed her paces in the shorter events with 3rd in the 150m (23.1), 2nd
in the 75m B race (12.0) and a p.b. in the long jump to place 4th
(3.27m).

At Dunfermline’s Auld Toun 10km road race Steve Doig was the first
Fife AC runner home in 5th (34.03) followed by Chris Russell 10th
(34.23) and Bryce Aitken 14th (36.40).
